Program Safety Information
Supervision

• On the Bus: Each bus has a minimum of two adult chaperones on the bus. Chaperones are on the bus during the lunch break. Chaperones also sell the day lift tickets on the bus so students don’t have to wait in line.

• Instruction: Lessons are provided by The Summit Learning Center. All instructors are PSIA certified: Pro Ski Instructors of America. Our instructors are certified to provide Terrain Park training. Class sizes are small, maximum of 8 students.

• On the Hill and in the Lodge: When students have free skiing/riding time, our chaperones are on the slopes to assist with any problems. Members of the National Ski Patrol are also on duty to monitor unsafe skiing / riding and are trained to administer emergency medical aid. Chaperones are also available in our lodge on the second floor at the bottom of Reggie's Run.

Illness and Injuries

• Medical Authorization Forms: As part of the registration process, we strongly recommend a signed Medical Authorization form from each parent/guardian. This form authorizes emergency medical treatment at the Summit at Snoqualmie or from your medical provider. These forms are kept on file with our staff and will be used if you cannot be contacted prior to treatment.

• Summit Ski Patrol: The safety of every student is very important as LWSC-ESR works in conjunction with the Summit Ski Patrol for any injuries that can occur on the hill. The Ski Patrol is made up of volunteers such as Doctors, EMT's, and others who are all OEC (Outdoor Emergency Care) certified. They dedicate their time to help provide first response to examine any of our students who become ill or are injured. They will also determine if a student should be transported back to the student’s Loading Area to be picked up by parents or to be taken for further medical care.

• ER Team: Ill or injured students, who are to be taken back to their Loading Area in a non-emergency, will be transported by our Emergency Response Team drivers to the loading area or to a medical facility. Each Emergency Response Team has a male and a female member who accompanies the student. All ER Team vehicles are 4-wheel drive.
